  • news

    Well, much has been happening.

the Blizzard was a success. aka, no one got hurt, and everybody recovered well enough. Also, every single kid in that auditorium heard the Good News that Jesus has died and rose again! weather they understood or not, that is up to the Holy Spirit to work out with them. I believe many of them did.

Since then, i went on a camp-out/staff retreat with Kingdom Outdoors. it was good, but i woke up quite sick. and slept for about 48 hours - minus my interview for my new job which i start tomorrow.

yup i'm officially working at the Fold Family Ministires. it's always been a thought in my head, ya know, one of those "i'll get around to working there someday". well, "someday' came a lot quicker than i was thinking. It's good though. I start tomorrow. working part time for this next week. then full time (aka i move in) sometime next week. crazy. I'm gonna need a lot of prayer. I know that i cannot do this job. seriously. i've spent enough time with the staff to know how hard it is. Please pray that i (along with the rest of the staff) will be relying on Christ alone for joy and strength. Also, i have been completely spoiled this year - working a 9-5 job, spending evenings with friends or family. lots of time for fellowship and bible study. and taking it all for granted. it's gonna be tough having opposite work hours as most of my friends - ok, nearly all of my friends. i'm gonna need to be in prayer a lot to stay focused.

anyway. i'm looking forward to this challenge. it will be good. Peace Out my friends.

  • wanted

    Wanted. no, needed.

A competent person of the male persuasion, who is at least one year out of high school, loves the Lord and things that are wild in nature, likes 12-16 year olds and desires to see them learn about their Creator. This particular young man must have a teachable spirit and be willing to give up 8 1/2 weeks of his summer to evnagelize and disciple the above mentioned age group in a wilderness setting. It is required that he be a good team player.

Note: there are other requirements but those already mentioned are some of the most important. If this person is you, than you should e-mail me as soon as possible. Thank you.

  • decisions

decisions decisions. to be for sure. but how to be, that is the question. to do or not to do. To love absolutly! always. ok, let me talk through this a little bit. If i work part time through april 10th (because i've told youngs i'll house sit). Then, full time after that - with the one day at KO, but just through april (and there is HV anyways)  - so that gives me a week to chill and prepare for CGN. Then completely full time in starting april 12 or so (with sunday's and Wednesdays' off because of sunday school and youth group. how does that sound?

  • Mini-Bears

So, some of you might know that I work at Burke Mt. Well, one of my jobs there is to sell our guests ski lessons. We have one program effectionately called "Mini-Bears". This class is for 3-5 year olds, it's basically a baby-sitting service, but it wouldn't sell very well if that's how we presented it. no, not at all. The selling point is when i tell parents that "This is an introduction where we get the children to love skiing." Gets 'em every time. See we play with the kids on their ski's so they associate fun and ski's and therefore next time they will want to learn to ski. So. believe it or not there is a point to this lil' rambling session. I have related our precious mini bears to the jr. high and elementary youth groups at Lyndon Bible Church.

Let me now give you some back ground info on this unique youth program in Lyndonville, Vermont. There are some communities around that are not the most pleasant places to live. Most of the kids don't know a whole lot about Jesus Christ, nor do they care. Anyway, we are privilaged to be able to use a town bus to pick up kids from some of these communities every wednesday night! it's really an amazing ministry.

Anyways, back to the point. I have personally decided that any given person (like the bear skiers need to want to learn how to ski) needs to want to know God in order to learn anything about him. Especially our Jr high kids when all they get is a 20 minute lesson about God a week! oy vay!!!! what a task! For i cannot make anybody want to know God. However, I have decided that there is something we can do. Ya see, they ride the bus for 20 minutes with Tim and Ben - who care enough about each of the kids to look them in the eye and ask how their week was, and then listen to the answer. Then we get to the church where Ian, Peter, Kiley, Linda, Scott (and others) serve them dinner (family style). We have a time of singing where they observe Chrisitians like Alley and Cheryl as they raise their hands in worship and sing about how every move they make they make in HIM! Then Aaron will give the new commers a gift - a free Bible! They also get to play games and have a good time in a safe environment. Then there is the lesson time, where we teach about Jesus Christ, and how he cares for each of us, he came to serve, we are welcome into his family, he followed his father every step of the way, he provides safety and he gave himself freely as a sacrifice.

So although I cannot make any of them love God or want to know him, I can be a ROCK leader and show them through my actions who Jesus Christ is.
